This year, Durham University International Study Centre’s first cohort of undergraduate students will be completing their degree and graduating from the University. We are following three of those students as they go through their final year.

At the start of the year we shared some blogs written by Nutta-uea, Jia Lin and Rumaysa. They all studied their pathway programme at the International Study Centre during 2017/18 and we have kept in touch with them as they progressed from the International Study Centre and throughout their time at Durham.

The international student experience

Nutta-uea, Jia Lin and Rumaysa recently had the opportunity to catch-up with one of their teachers at the International Study Centre and reflect on the past four years as they near the end of their undergraduate journeys. Watch the conversations to find out more about their individual experiences and what their time in the UK has meant to each of them.

Nutta-uea

Nutta-uea from Thailand studied the International Foundation Year in Science and Engineering at the International Study Centre, before progressing to Durham University to study BSc (Hons) Chemistry. Watch her catch-up with Graeme, one of her tutors from the International Study Centre. Graeme finds out what she’s been up to since her International Foundation Year and her plans for the future.

Jia Lin

Jia Lin from Malaysia also studied the International Foundation Year in Science and Engineering at the International Study Centre. She progressed to BSc (Hons) Biological Sciences. Watch her catch-up with Yvonne, one of her teachers from the International Study Centre. In the video, Yvonne discovers how important the support from staff was before Jia Lin progressed to university, as well as Jia Lin’s experience with the collegiate system.

Rumaysa

Rumaysa from Pakistan studied the International Foundation Year in Business, Economics, Accounting and Finance before progressing to study BA (Hons) Business and Management. Rumaysa had lots to share when she caught up with Barbara, one of her teachers from the International Study Centre. Watch part one where Barbara finds out how the International Foundation Year and her time at Queen’s Campus prepared her for her degree. Then watch part two as Rumaysa shares what she’s been up to since progressing to Durham University and her plans for the future.

We look forward to celebrating their graduation ceremonies with them later in the year.
