International Foundation Year

To apply for the International Foundation Year, you need to meet the following entry requirements.

Academic: Good high school graduation grades or equivalent, with relevant subjects. For Philosophy, Politics and Economics BA (Hons), students will need to have studied Maths in their most recent year of study. For Music - Students must have either A level Music or Grade 6 theory. In the absence of this, a music video of student playing 3 pieces, 1-2 mins duration for each piece, in standard electronic format needs to be referred to centre for consideration.

English language: IELTS Academic for UKVI 5.5 (minimum of 5.0 in all other skills, students looking to progress to LLB Law needs to have 5.5 in reading and writing), or equivalent*  

Age: 17+

Business: Maths/numerate subject required at school completion with pass (at country requirements).  Maths/numerate subject accepted within 2-years of Final High-School Year (YR12), at YR11 or YR10. Not required in further year unless otherwise specified.

Computer Science IY1: Maths grade B equivalent from the final year of high school. Not required in further year.

Pre-Masters

To apply for the Pre-Masters programme you need to meet the following entry requirements.

Academic

You need a good first degree or diploma in a relevant subject. 

  • Business, Economics, Accounting and Finance: you need proof of Maths or other numerate subject modules within your undergraduate degree or diploma.
  • Law and Social Science: you may need a relevant first degree, depending on your chosen progression degree.
  • Science and Engineering: you need a relevant degree or diploma.

English language

  • Three terms - Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.5 (5.5 in all skills) or equivalent*
  • Three Terms - Duolingo overall 100, no skill less than 100
  • Two terms - Academic IELTS for UKVI 6.0 (5.5 in all skills) or equivalent*^
  • Duolingo overall 110, no skill less than 100

Age: 18+

* You can start your studies with either a UKVI-approved Secure English Language Test (SELT), or an accepted alternative equivalent assessment, provided you meet all the programme entry requirements.

Study Group is permitted to assess students’ suitability for entry onto programmes which are degree level and above under the registration for the UK Office for Students. You are therefore not required to have a UKVI SELT to obtain a Student Visa when you come to campus.

The test results must have been achieved in the past 24 months and meet the minimum English equivalency score for your chosen programme.

A CAS for a Student Visa will only be issued if you have met the minimum language requirement of CEFR B2 in all skills, and the academic entry requirements for your chosen programme.
